What is Flametect CWD+?

Flametect CWD+ is a clear, penetrating fire-retardant treatment designed for timber, including interior and exterior timber cladding.
The treatment works by improving the timber's reaction-to-fire performance while remaining clear once dry, helping you retain the natural colour, grain and character of the wood.
It is water-based and VOC-free, making it suitable for projects where enhanced fire performance is required without covering the timber with an opaque coating.

What does BS476 Class 0 & 1 mean?
Flametect CWD+ has been tested to BS476 Class 0 & Class 1 for suitable timber applications.
These classifications relate to how the treated surface performs when exposed to fire, including the spread of flame and fire propagation. They have historically been widely referenced in UK building and fire safety specifications.
When correctly applied to a suitable timber substrate, Flametect CWD+ can be used to improve the reaction-to-fire performance of timber cladding while allowing the natural appearance of the timber to remain visible.
Relates to surface spread of flame performance under the relevant BS476 testing.
A higher fire-performance classification combining surface spread of flame requirements with fire-propagation criteria.
The tested performance depends on the substrate and the treatment being applied correctly.

No. Fire-retardant treatment is designed to improve the timber's reaction-to-fire performance. It should not be confused with a structural fire-resistance rating such as 30, 60 or 90 minutes.
