People We Work With

Below are some of the amazing businesses we have had the pleasure of working with.

Is oak good for cladding?

Oak is one of the best hardwoods for cladding. Being a hardwood, it can withstand daily wear and tear and is also naturally resistant to harsh weather, including rain, wind, frost, and sun.

Where softwoods usually require sealing and painting, oak can do without. In fact, your wall cladding made from oak will even develop a stunning patina (a natural, aged appearance) over time when left untreated.

Its timeless appearance also speaks for itself — just take a look at our Premium Oak Wall Cladding and see for yourself! Whether you’re looking for oak internal wall cladding or oak external wall cladding, oak timber is rich, warm, and full of character. It can integrate seamlessly into almost any aesthetic, from traditional and rustic to modern and minimalist.

Versatility is also one of the strong points of oak timber cladding. Our range covers styles to suit every property style, including oak tongue and groove wall cladding for a smooth, seamless look and stability.

There are only a few things to remember when choosing oak strip wall cladding:

  • Oak cladding is heavier than softwoods like pine, so you may benefit from a professional installation if you’re not confident taking the DIY approach. Fill out our ‘Request An Installation Quote’ section at the bottom of the product page, and we’ll be in touch!
  • Oak is typically more expensive than softwoods, but this ultimately comes down to its unmatchable longevity.
  • It’s best to apply a treatment or finish to your oak external timber cladding. Its high tannin levels (which make the oak rot and pest-resistant) can leak and stain when exposed to rain, but a protective finish can prevent this.

How long does oak wall cladding last?

With professional grade installation and maintenance, oak wall cladding has the potential to last for decades and sometimes even longer!

Oak external wall cladding can last anywhere from 40 to 100+ years with proper care, but it’s important to occasionally re-seal and re-stain the cladding boards to maintain their honey-golden colour. When installing, you should also use a breathable membrane and leave expansion gaps between the boards to prevent issues like warping, rotting, and moisture buildup.

Naturally, oak interior wall cladding can last much longer (anywhere from 75 to 100+ years) because it isn’t exposed to harsh weather. If you plan on installing your oak wall cladding in a dry area like a living room or bedroom, you can leave it untreated. However, if you want to upgrade your kitchen or bathroom with oak boards, it’s best to seal it with a moisture-resistant finish to prevent the wood from swelling or warping.

Where can you use oak cladding?

Oak cladding is extremely versatile and can be used to enhance almost any residential or commercial property style. Some popular applications for exterior and interior oak wall panels include…

Oak internal timber cladding

  • Feature walls and accent panels for a cosy vibe in living rooms, hallways, staircases, and bedrooms
  • Ceiling cladding for rustic appeal in loft conversions and barn conversions
  • Backdrops for home offices
  • Checkout counter decoration for commercial spaces like cafes, spas, and restaurants

Oak external wall cladding

  • Facades for both traditional and modern properties
  • Garden rooms and home extensions for a natural feel
  • Outdoor dining spaces for pubs and restaurants
  • Storefronts for commercial properties
