The lifespan of pine cladding depends on whether you’re installing it inside or outside and whether it is treated or untreated.
Interior pine cladding can last 20 years or longer when treated and sealed with a protective finish. If left untreated, this type of timber can last anywhere between 5 to 10 years, but you can increase its lifespan with a weather-resistant stain or rot-resistant seal to prevent moisture absorption.
At Funky Timber, we offer plenty of customisations and optional extras on all of our pine cladding boards, including matte and satin varnishes, fire-retardant treatments, and glitter finishes.
When left untreated, pine is not naturally water resistant. Wood is a porous material, so it can absorb moisture and swell, shrink, and rot as a result.
To prevent this from happening, we can seal your chosen pine product with a varnish for improved water resistance and protection against UV damage. If you choose to have your cladding painted by us, this can also improve the water resistance of the boards.
